The Indian Navy is aiming to achieve 90% indigenous content in all aspects of shipbuilding, including float, move, and fight, within 10 years.
This is part of the Navy's larger indigenisation roadmap, which was unveiled at the Swavlamban Seminar in October 2023.
The Navy has already made significant progress in indigenisation, with over 70% of the content of its warships now being sourced from domestic suppliers
The Navy's indigenisation roadmap is aligned with the Government of India's Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) initiative.
The roadmap is also expected to boost India's defence manufacturing sector and create new jobs.
