Jeep Compass 2WD diesel automatic launched

Jeep has launched a new variant of the Compass SUV in India

The new variant features a 2WD diesel engine and automatic transmission

The 2.0-litre diesel engine produces 173hp and 350Nm of torque

The automatic transmission is a 9-speed unit

The new variant is available in two trims - Longitude and Limited Plus

The Longitude trim is priced at Rs 21.96 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Limited Plus trim is priced at Rs 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom)

The new variant is aimed at customers who want the convenience of an automatic transmission, but don't require 4WD

The Compass 2WD diesel automatic is expected to compete with the likes of the Hyundai Tucson and the upcoming Skoda Karoq

Jeep has also introduced a new 'Night Eagle' variant of the Compass, priced at Rs 20.14 lakh (ex-showroom)

The Night Eagle variant is based on the Longitude trim and features blacked-out exterior elements
