The United States has approved a possible sale of spare and repair parts for Saudi Arabia's fleet of combat vehicles, at an estimated price tag of $500 million.
The sale is expected to support Saudi Arabia's self-defense and promote stability in the Middle East.
The sale includes spare and repair parts for a variety of combat vehicles, including the M1A1/A2 Abrams main battle tank
The sale also includes support equipment and services, such as training and technical assistance.
The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced the sale on September 21, 2023.
The DSCA said the sale would "support Saudi Arabia's self-defense and promote stability in the Middle East."
The sale is expected to create jobs in the US defense industry.
The sale is subject to congressional approval.
