China has been rapidly expanding its military capabilities in recent years, and it has become increasingly assertive in the Indian Ocean region.

Aircraft carriers and submarines are essential for India to maintain its maritime dominance in the Indian Ocean region.

Aircraft carriers provide India with a power projection capability that allows it to project its military power anywhere in the Indian Ocean region.

Submarines provide India with a stealth capability that allows it to operate undetected in enemy waters.

India currently has two aircraft carriers, INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant.
